Who we are

This website is run by Alison Wright Millinery, a millinery studio just outside Bristol, UK. Alison Wright is responsible for any personal information you share through this site.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email alisonwrightmillinery@hotmail.com.

What information we collect and why

We only collect what you choose to send us. That’s usually when you get in touch about a bespoke hat or commission, a class or workshop, or something from the shop.

This may include:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your phone number, if you give it
  • details about your enquiry or order, such as the occasion, sizing or delivery address

We use this information to reply to you, arrange commissions, classes and orders, and keep records we need for tax and accounting. We do this because you’ve asked us to, or because we need to for a contract with you (UK GDPR “legitimate interests” and “contract”).

We don’t sell your information, and we won’t send you marketing emails unless you’ve asked us to.

If you buy through our Etsy shop, Etsy handles your order and payment under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site uses:

  • Necessary cookies, which make the site work properly and remember your cookie choices. These are always on.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies, which are only used if you accept them in the cookie banner.

You can change your choices at any time using the cookie banner, or clear cookies in your browser settings.

The site also links to our Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest pages. If you follow those links, those sites’ own privacy policies apply.

Who we share it with and how long we keep it

We only share your information when we need to, for example with:

  • our website host, which stores the site securely
  • our email provider, which holds messages you send us
  • delivery companies, if we’re posting something to you
  • our accountant, for tax records

We keep enquiry emails for up to 2 years after we last hear from you. We keep order and payment records for 6 years, because HMRC requires it. After that, we delete them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • see the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how we use it

To do any of these, email alisonwrightmillinery@hotmail.com. We’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
